Anything But Sushi

Today I went to alamanda with all my housemates. We decided to finish our fasting there because we were so bored finishing our fasting at home. Because today is Thursday and all of us don’t have any class on Friday, we thought we could get a day break after four days studying. We went there by bus because it was cheaper than renting a car. When we arrived there, we didn’t have any clue where we were going to eat because there were so many restaurant in there and all of them look very delicious. We were so hungry and felt like we could eat all the food in there. I asked one of my housemates if there were a specific restaurant that we wanted. He said that he was a food lover so he liked all the food that he had in front of his eyes. But he didn’t like sushi because sushi was cold and he didn’t like cold food. What he did just now is making a contradictory relationship. First he said that he liked all the food. But then he said that he didn’t like sushi. Sometimes I felt that there something wrong with his brain but I rather not to say it directly to him. So after a long conversation, we decided to go Mcdonalds because it was pretty cheap and there was no sushi there.

September Rain

Today, I woke up late and I missed some of my classes. When I looked outside, it was raining. Actually I still had a marketing class because it was still four o’clock and marketing class usually finish at six o’clock. So if I went to the class at that time, I still could catch some materials. But unfortunately, my body won’t move from my bed. And it was raining too. It made the temperature dropped and the sound of the rain falling down always make me want to sleep and continue my dreams. But I still worried that I was going to miss some materials. I wasn’t so good in marketing class so I probably needed this materials. But still, the weather was perfect to go back to sleep. So I called my friend who was in the same class with me. I asked him if he came to the class right now. He said that he skipped the class because it was raining and he didn’t have any umbrella. Then I asked the same question to my other friend. She said that she was so tired so she would not go to the class. So, from this survey, I concluded that nobody was going to attend the class because of rain. And if there were nobody in the class, the lecture would cancel the class. Therefore, I went back to sleep and continued my dreams. Even though I know that I made a fallacy of hasty generalization, I still believed that nobody came to the class.

In the Market

I got nothing to do right now and I was so hungry. But I couldn’t eat because I was not supposed to eat. I’m a moslem and I have to fast for one month. So I decided to go to the market near cyberia to buy some ingredients so I could cook for dinner. I when I arrived, I saw that there were many people there. Since it was a small store, it would be difficult for me to buy all the ingredients because it was too crowded. But fortunately, I managed to buy all the ingredients I need such as meat, sausage, water and some spices. Then I went to the cashier to pay all the ingredients. But the queue was so long. I had to wait for about ten minutes until my turn. After waiting for ten minutes, all I had left in front of me was a woman. She asked about the drink that she was going to buy and wants to know if it tasted good. i thought there was no point for her to ask the cashier because he would say that the drinks was good to make the woman bought the drinks. As I thought, he said that, ”every person who visit this store likes it. You’re a person who visit this store. So, you will like it”. A very good persuasion, I thought. Even that it was wrong and weak, the argument was valid. And the most amazing was, that woman really fell for the cashier and bought the drinks. What a smart cashier. He used two premises to give the conclusion that the drinks was good. After that woman paid for her drinks, I paid my ingredients and heading back to my apartment.

Beating the Boss

After watching my housemate playing game yesterday, I decided to go back to his room today to see his progress. I saw that he already met the final boss. He said that the final boss was very hard to defeat. He already tried for2 hours but he still couldn’t the final boss. And everytime his player got defeated, he always yelling and said that the boss was cheating. I told him to stop playing but he said he didn’t want to stop until he defeated the boss. Finally, a couple hours later, he did defeat the boss. He was so happy and keep telling that he’s the greatest. When I asked him the gratest in what way, he just said that he is the gratest in everything. I told him that what he said was vague, but he didn’t listening and still enjoying his winning.

Cool Game

After finishing some of my assignment, I decided to rest a bit. I came to my housemate room and found that he was playing some game that looks cool. I kept on watching him play because it was very thrilling. When I asked where did he get the game, he said that he got in from the internet by downloading it for two days. Two days is a long time but I guessed it was worthed because the game was so good and the picture quality was nice also. But that was my opinion. So I asked my housemate his opinion about the game. He said that the game was awesome. And when I asked him why, he just said, “ well, it is awesome because it can make me thrilled, scared and sometimes nervous. And it can make me that kind of feeling because the game’s storyline is very good.” I nodded, then I asked him again why did he say that the storyline was good. But he just simply anwered,” because the game is awesome!!”. Ok, I think there’s no reason for me to keep asking him because what he just did is making a circular argument. So I decided to continue watching him play.

Mind-mapping in the real life

Today I went to critical thinking class and I learned some about mind mapping. It’s about putting an information onto words, picture, symbols and colors so we can easily remember it and put it into our mind. it should be helpful for me but i still don’t know what it is for in the real life. I kept on thinking on the way back to my apartment. Mr. Nicky said to us that the chapter we’ve learned today is going to help us in making our assignment, which is making a blog. It means that in our daily life, we always use mind mapping. But until I arrived at my apartment, I still couldn’t figure out what am I usually do that have a connection with mind mapping. But then I just remembered that I had a lot of assignment that I need to do. So instead of thinking about mind mapping, maybe I better go to my room and do my assignment. But after I sat on my chair, I couldn’t remember what assignment that I should do. So I have to open all my notes again to bring back what I have forgotten. I wrote all the subject that have an assignment such as critical thinking, management, cyberpreneurship and marketing. Then I wrote all the assignment that I should do below each of the subject. I did this so I can remembered all the assignment that need to be done. But if I thought again, what I had done just now is what Mr. Nicky has told me. I drew a Map so I can easily remember in my mind. the subject is the children and the assignment below the subject is the grandchildren. All I need to add is just some nice picture and color. Now I understand why learning mind-mapping can be very helpful in my real life.

Ad poppulum vs Tu quoque

I don’t have anything more to do today. Actually, I still got a lot of assignment, but I’m not in the mood to do it. Tomorrow is Tuesday, it means that I have to get up early because I have a critical thinking class in the morning. Hoaamm..what a cruel world. And then suddenly my friend come to my room and singing like a retard. I know why he is like this. He feels as bored as I do. Time pass by and he still singing. Then suddenly he stop and ask me if I had any assignment. Then I admit that I have three assignment left but I don’t want to do it. I don’t know what is his purpose, but then he said,” I remembered that you want to get a scholarship for master programme, right?if you don’t do your assignment, you fill fail on this subject and if you fail, you should let go your scholarship”. I think he’s using the ad poppulum appeal to false dilemma right now. Then I reply, ”well smart guy, have you done your own assignment?”. Then he answered,”hehe..no”. “ Just as I thought.. so it means that I don’t have to listen to you, Do i?”.(Tu quoque)

An Angel?

“Yesterday was the happiest day in my life” my friend suddenly said that to me and my housemate. I was playing ‘winning eleven’ with my housemates in my rooms and then he continued,”I saw an angel”. “yeah, right” my housemates said to him. I just laughed than I asked him,”so where did you meet her?”. He replied,”I saw her when I was eating and suddenly there she was, with the most beautiful face I ever seen, the brightest eyes and nicest smell”. Then he continued,”I wanted to ask her name but I didn’t dare. She was so pretty. But I’m pretty sure that someday she will be my wife..”.”you wish” my housemates cut his sentence but my friend kept on talking while closing his eyes,”..and we will have a children, wonderful house and live happily ever after”. I asked him,”but how you gonna marry her if you didn’t even dare to ask her name?”. he didn’t replied but he kept on smiling and closing his eyes. “I think there’s no point asking him. His mind may already flown out to another world”, said my housemates. I knew that his mind didn’t really fly because what my housemate said was a metaphor to describe my friend’s attitude.

Cast Away

I like tom hanks. His acting was great and most of his films were very good. Just now I watched his movie which it’s title called ‘cast away’. It’s not a new movie but I never get tired of watching it. It is about a man who survived in an empty island without food, friends to talk and clothes for 3 years. The greatness about this film is in how he manages to survive. He even use a ball drawed with his blood so it looks like somebody’s face as his friend. He use a stick to stab a fish. He drinks coconut everyday and do the same thing everyday for 3 years long. In the end, he saw a ship and build a raft to reach the ship. Finally he succeed and go back to the city. After watching this movie, I was thinking about what if tom hanks didn’t succeed in reaching the ship. Is he going back to the island and live there forever or what? I tried to re-make the ending to become a sad story like maybe he died when he tried to reach the ship or maybe a shark bit him. But whatever I did or how many times I made the ending different, It won’t get the academy award winner title for sure.

Good or Bad Waiter?

Today, I went to restaurant near cyberia with my friends. The restaurant was’t far so we could reach it just by walking. By the time I arrived, there were a plenty empty seats because it was 3 o’clock and it passed lunch time. We took a table near the television so we can watch while waiting for the food to arrive. Then a waiter came and asked us what we were going to order. Then he gave us the menu and all of us start to look at it. It was pretty confusing for me because it was the first time I ate there and I don’t which food was delicious and which food was not. Then my eyes found one food that quite interesting for me to eat. It was called Special Fried Maggie. It sound very delicious to me but I didn.t want to make a mistake. So I asked the waiter if the food was good or not. The waiter said that it was good. So, I ordered it without hesitate. After the waiter left, my friend suddenly said to me, “ are you sure that the Maggie is good?”. “well, the waiter said so”, I answered. “of course he said so, stupid. He’s the employee in here and he said that because he wants to get a profit so he can get a bonus by the end of this month.”. My friend was using Ad Hominem Circumstacial fallacy to deny that the food will be good. I didn’t know what to say. All I could do was just wait for the food to come and hoped that my friend’s opinion was wrong. A moment later, the food arrived and luckily, he was wrong.

Trip to KL part 3

I ordered a chicken blackpepper in secret recipe when my friend had some tuna. We sat outside so we could get a better view. And also it was too cold to sit inside. Then I asked my friend about why he didn’t want to go to kfc. I said that kfc was cheap and the chicken was also delicious. But my friend denied it. He said, “ even that it’s cheap, it’s not healthy. They use some kind of drugs to make the chicken bigger and probably use a lot of Scientific seasoning which make the food more delicious. You don’t want to eat that kind of food, right?”. He asked a leading question which force me to answered yes.

Trip to KL part 2

After spending about 20 minutes in KL transit, finally I arrived in KL sentral. I took a monorail and wait for my friend in Bukit Bintang Plaza. I waited in starbucks coffee because I was so thirsty. I ordered one vanilla Frappuchino which was my favorite. It was pretty crowded here maybe because today is Saturday and it is a time when people go to shopping or have some fun after five days working. But think of it again, it’s always crowded here. Maybe that was not the reason. Then someone called my name. It was my friend who I want to met, ardy. He sat with me then ordered some kind of coffee that I didn’t know. Of course I didn’t know because I always ordered vanilla frappuchino and all I know what starbucks have is only vanilla frappuchino and evian. And then I asked him if he’s hungry or not. He said that he’s pretty hungry because he had not eat anything since morning. So I suggest him if he want to eat in KFC. Then he said, ”what?haha.. Are you serious? What are you going to eat in that place?”. I want to answered that I want to eat chicken but I knew what he meant. There was an implicit conclusion inside his argument which means that the food there was not good. So I answered, ”alright, so where do you want to eat then? How about secret recipe?”. Then he said,”hmm..that’s better..ok let’s go!!”. So after finished our drinks, we went to secret recipes to eat.

Trip to KL part 1

Today, I went to KL because I want to meet with my friend. I took a bus from cyberjaya to putrajaya sentral which cost me about one ringgit. Then I took KL transit train from putrajaya sentral to KL sentral. It’s quite expensive because I only took a one way trip but it already cost me about nine ringgit. The trip took about 20 minutes, so it will be pretty boring if I don’t do anything. That’s why, once again, my Ipod had saved me. When the train was arriving at the platform, I stepped in and looked for the best seat. Then I turned on my ipod. Ten minutes had passed by but I still felt so bored. I turned off my ipod then and start starring to the beautiful scenery which I had from my seat. Suddenly, I heard someone talking to his friend. He said to his friend if she believed about the effect of smoking which can cause him to suffer lung cancer. “yes, of course..why?” applied his friend. “Nothing..just asking. Hey, do you remembered hasan, my cousin?” Asked him again. “yeah, he’s a nice guy..how is he?” said his friend. Then he answered,” actually hasan is having a lung cancer right now. I don’t know how, but I think it’s because he likes to smoke a lot. What do you think?”. “well, since smoking can cause lung cancer, I think smoking is really the reason why he has a lung cancer right now”, she answered. Then they had a long conversation about smoking which I couldn’t remember. I thought about the conversation just now. Well, they not supposed to make that conclusion because what they made is Affirming the Consequent. Just because smoking can cause lung cancer, it doesn’t mean that the cause of his cousin’s cancer is smoking. It could probably come from other factors like dust etc. what they did just now is making an invalid argument.

Let's go to Carrefour!!

Fasting month is coming very soon but we don’t have anything to eat in our refrigerator. The words ‘we’ means me and my housemates. Once we were thinking about just order it by phone. But when we think again, it’s impossible. Imagine the number of order that they have to delivered because everybody want to eat too after fasting all day long. We could have to wait for a year!! And by the time the food is arrived, we could have died because of hunger. So, when we think again, it was a bad plan.
Therefore, we have to change our plan to plan B. and that plan B is Buy rice cooker, stove and foods so we don’t have to order anymore. Everybody agree with plan b. Then, we decided to go to Carrefour to buy all the necessary things. But suddenly, my housemates lost their intention because if we want to go to carrefour, we have to go to alamanda, and alamanda is far. And also we have to rent a car. That’s a long journey. I keep thinking of a way to persuade them. Then I remember something about ad popullum appeal to indirect consequences which I‘ve learned in critical thinking class. So I said to them, “If we don’t go to Carrefour, we couldn’t cook for our meal, if we couldn’t cook, we definitely will fail our fasting, if our fasting fail, it will be a sin.and if we have a lot of sin then we will go to hell for the rest of our lives. Do you want to be like that?”.Fortunately, They start thinking about what I’ve said and after taking a pretty a long time to think, finally, they agree! So, a moment later, we leave our house and begin our journey to Carrefour. But suddenly, my friend ask a question, ”Do you guys have any money? i forgot that I don’t have any money in my bank. My parents haven’t sent me this month! Can I borrow yours? hehe”. then each of us begin to think again and try to remember about the amount of money in our bank. So, in the end, our trip to Carrefour cancelled because none of us has any money remaining in our bank.

Like A Stone

Audioslave
Like A Stone

on a cobweb afternoon
in a room full of emptiness
by a freeway i confess
i was lost in the pages
of a book full of death
reading how we'll die alone
and if we're good we'll lay to rest
anywhere we want to go

(chorus)
in your house i long to be
room by room patiently
i'll wait for you there
like a stone i'll wait for you there
alone

on my deathbed i will pray
to the gods and the angels
like a pagan to anyone
who will take me to heaven
to a place i call
i was there so long ago
the sky was bruised
the wine was bled
and there you led me on

in your house i long to be
room by room patiently
i'll wait for you there
like a stone i'll wait for you there
alone

and on i read
until the day was gone
and i sat in regret
of all the things i've done
for all that i've blessed
and all that i've wronged
in dreams until my death

i will wander on

Another boring day has accompanied me today. And as always, I can only use my ipod as my medicine. I turned on my ipod, then I start to listen to audioslave. I’m not much a fan of audioslave, but their songs are pretty god and easy to listen. The one that I’ve listened just now is called “like a stone”. If you just read the title of the song, you will wonder “what’s like a stone?” or maybe “does the singer like a stone as his dinner?”. Well, just keep on listening and you will find the answer. I’m still listening to their song and then finally I arrived on the chorus where the singer said “i'll wait for you there like a stone i'll wait for you there alone”. So, we got the answer. From here we can conclude that the writer is waiting for his (maybe) girlfriend so long and without doing anything like a stone. The writer is using simile in his song to describe his feelings and he create the title ambigue to make the listeners anxious about the song.

Brainstorming in the meeting

Just now, my society club arranged a meeting in my friend’s house. We talked about our finished event which we have done it last week and about the next coming event. I didn’t pay attention too much on their conversation because it was soooo boring. But suddenly, our leader said something about how to spread news to our member. I didn’t know why, but I began to think. Then, one of our member started to giving his idea. His idea was just tell everybody by sms. Then other members started to come out with their ideas like spreading the news by mouth to mouth, or by put it in some blog and many others. Then somehow, I just realized that what we had done just now is a material that we have learned in Critical Thinking class, which madam Aznur called it as Brainstorming. Yes, just now, we had a brainstorming session to solve what is the best ways to spread news to our members. And the first idea that came from one of our member is known as “Load Dumping”, which was a good way to begin.

The Note

Today is Thursday, and I’m so sick of studying marketing because tomorrow there will be a marketing exam that will be held in FOM building. It’s a very difficult subject and I hate it so much. But, if I want to get a good GPA, I have to pass this subject no matter what. That’s why i have been studying since Monday so I will get good mark. I hope. But, unfortunately, I’m still a human and I’m so tired. I need a break. That’s what I thought. So, I began to surf the internet, hunting for good picture, and guess what.. I found this picture.

“you mean more than the world may ever know”. Those words are written on the paper inside the picture. Then I began to think, that’s so sweet. Imagine if there’s some said that to you. It would be awesome right? Maybe the author who write on the paper tries to tell his/her friend that his/her friend means so much to him/her. It means so much that the author use a simile to represent how big the author’s friend means.
